What makes progress stick?

Board & Train: a structured learning environment

Board & Train combines daily professional handling, consistent routines and targeted obedience exercises. Depending on your dog's starting point, training may focus on leash manners, sit and down, place command, recall foundations, impulse control, crate routines, settling calmly and responding around real-world distractions.

Programs range from two weeks to longer options for more involved goals. The appropriate duration depends on age, temperament, previous learning and behaviour concerns. Training progress varies by dog, and an owner's participation after the program is essential to maintaining new habits.

Private dog training classes

Private classes are designed for owners who want to learn alongside their dogs. We help you understand when to reward, how to communicate clearly and how to practise consistently between classes. Training may address puppy manners, loose-leash walking, attention, basic obedience, greeting behaviour and household routines.

Private classes are available at our location or at client location in Toronto, with a minimum of two classes per client-location visit. In the GTA outside Toronto, add $20 per class. All prices CAD + HST.

Puppy training and everyday manners

Early training can help puppies build habits that make life easier as they grow. We introduce age-appropriate focus, name recognition, leash skills, settling, handling, basic commands and structured exposure to everyday situations. Puppies need short, achievable exercises and a predictable routine rather than simply repeating commands for long periods.

For adolescent dogs, training often includes working through distractions, improving follow-through and helping owners set clear, fair boundaries. We tailor expectations to the individual dog's maturity and ability.

Leash pulling, reactivity and impulse control

Dogs may pull, bark or become overexcited on walks for many different reasons. An assessment helps us understand the context before recommending a plan. Training may include foundation skills, controlled exposure, better handler timing and exercises that teach a dog to re-engage with its owner.

For more serious behaviour concerns, we discuss safety and realistic expectations before enrolment. Behaviour change is not guaranteed within a fixed number of classes or weeks, and some cases may require veterinary or veterinary-behaviour support.

Off-leash reliability and recall

Reliable recall begins with engagement and repetition in manageable environments. We build skills gradually, increasing distractions as the dog becomes ready. Off-leash training is not the same as allowing a dog to roam without control: safety, local leash rules and each dog's readiness always come first.

Longer training packages may include off-leash foundations and proofing, depending on the dog's progress and suitability.

Owner transfer and lasting progress

A trained dog still needs a confident, consistent owner. Our Board & Train programs include a go-home lesson and follow-up guidance so the family can practise the same cues and routines. We encourage clients to keep training in everyday settings and to ask questions when new challenges arise.

The aim is not a temporary performance for a video. It is better communication and useful behaviour in real life.
